Using compressor to convert pro res to mpeg2 and it has taken 36 hours so far

Using compressor to convert pro res to mpeg2 and it has taken 36 hours so far and it's not even 25% finish. Am I doing this wrong? Any faster way? I just want to be able to burn my my FCP file to a dvd.
