Recommended video brightness levels for playback on the web?

I know that video playback on the web does not have broadcast-safe problems. But is there are recommended luminance level for video conversion for web playback--does it make a difference whether my viewers will be using PCs or MACs? I am using H.264.

Thanks for any help!

There are two ways of looking at this.

First, computer displays are sRGB devices, which can display the full dynamic range of video with no problems, so just don't worry about it.

Second, it's virtually impossible to predict not only the display settings but the viewing conditions of Joe Average Computer Guy, so just don't worry about it.

Either way, I come down on the side of just-don't-worry-about-it.
