Export Codecs and quality?

I transfered 720p24 footage out of a varicam 2700 into FCP.
From the sequence exported three ways as an experiment.

1) DVCPRO HD 24p size 960x720 file size = 415 mb
2) ProRes 422HQ 24p size 960x720 file size= 688 mb
3) ProRes 422HQ 24p size 1920x1280 file size= 1.36 gb

I do not notice any measurable difference in quality.
Is this a matter of file size only?

You need to provide more details on the workflow. What was it captured to? How did you transfer it out of the P2 card?

You should render to ProRes in float if you want to preserve as much bit depth data from your renders, but you are unlikely to see much differences, as DvcproHD isn't as lossy as the long GOP codecs.

Of course you didn't. You took something out of a small bag and put it in a same-sized bag, a larger bag and a much larger bag. Nothing had to be squeezed to fit.

Sorry, you do not have permission to post/reply in this forum.
