Improve HD exports for SD DVDs

In Final Cut 5.1.4 my HD project does not convert to MPEG2 with any kind of quallity that is comprable to having shot a film in SD. The edges are blurry, interlacing apears frayed and it looks like crap. My HD film was shot on a Canon XL-H1 and looks amazing in the editing bay. It converts to H.264 with good quality, but MPEG2 conversion is so poor, I fell like Compressor 2.3 has gone backwards into the dark ages!

I fell ripped off by Apple and all of this HD world for not testing their damn software with different HD cameras so they can get us a working system. They probably tried it on a Sony and that is why one camera works.
