Utilize the Multiple Cores in a Mac Pro Better

I wish FCP would utilize the multiple cores in a Mac Pro better. I'm watching the processors work while I render a big project , and they're all over the place. When I send a file through Compressor and my Virtual Cluster the core performance is pegged close to 100%.

Not sure if that's a fair comparison, and maybe an application can't take over the cores like that so easily (or certain processes like rendering aren't equivalent to compression). At the very least, it would be nice if it could utilize more RAM for better performance, since FCP only uses a sliver of of the max available RAM.
