There is a feature in Avid that goes something like "add this effect to all transitions between in and out points". That is handy.

You can do that in FCP too. It's weird methodology, but here it is : How Do I Apply Multiple Transitions To A Track?

I think if you do a google search you might find a video demo of this too.
