A Better Way to Share Effect Presets

A Better Way to Share Effect Presets

Have we done this one yet? I'd like a better way to share effect presets. If I remember right, "favorites" are store in the preferences file, which as we all know gets trashed regularly. Right now, we're sharing effect/generator presets by copying them into a shared project file ? called, imaginatively enough, "PRESETS.fcp" ? and expecting each editor to load them up individually and make-favorite-effect them. Kind of a pain, especially when new presets get distributed.

Sounds like Jeff's inclination is to have multiple user accounts within FCP, with their own preferences and presets...like Avid.

I've never needed that -- there tend to be few users on the systems I use -- but it'd be a nice option to have, rather than having to create accounts at the OS level.

Not necessarily, Derek, but I guess I could see the virtue in that. In my case, I was inspired by the need to give multiple edit systems (about eight, in our case) access to the same canned effect/generator presets.
