Now that we have lighter versions of ProRes, it really doesn't make as much sense to do offline renders to ProRes when we can be using ProRes LT or ProRes RT, so having a "render to ProRes RT" option would be nice.

What's ProRes RT?

That aside, this seems like a pretty obvious feature. I like it.

However, just for my own edification ? what's the virtue of doing that, rather than having a ProRes LT timeline? I've never cared for the "native timeline with ProRes rendering" option, because you still have to do a whole-timeline conform when exporting.

Arghs. My bad I meant "ProRes Proxy". It's really more for faster render previews, which is sorta where the render in ProRes option was going, but a lighter codec would render a lot faster. Thing is, when i'm doing offline cuts, I just want to preview the cuts/filters as fast as possible, so I don't mind rendering to a lighter codec.

Naturally, it would also be great if they could somehow keep the ProRes renders so you can export the whole sequence out as ProRes without having to render those bits. A bit of a side topic...
