Another Question about subtitles and relink clips

I'm still not really familiar with that workflow of FCPX.
I love the feature that you can attach subtitles to a clip, that's really great. Working 'trackless' on the other hand makes it a bit difficult.
I got a simple timeline/story with subtitles. Now the clips are offline, as nobody wants to send 1TB or more around.
I can attach new subtitles to the offline clips if I now the story (pretty tedious), but with the offline clips the previous subtitles also are gone and are not any more readable/editable even though you can see them.

Any ideas?
