How to Lock an Element in the Timeline

Is there a shortcut or a toggle that allows locking of individual items in the timeline.

When I try to change dimensions, the active element jumps to another clip (the wrong one) in the timeline and wants to apply changes (until I pick DONE). Maybe if I can lock out the clips and items I'm not changing in the timeline, the jumping around will stop.
