Importing Font for Native American Language for Text in FCP X

hi:

interesting challenge here: i'm working on a piece where i'm using title cards to translate words into a specific native american language--penobscot. w/o the actual font, when i cut and paste the translation, it doesn't read properly. i've installed the font onto my iMac but i'm guessing i have to also get it into final cut pro. how do i do this?

on a tight deadline, so if anyone can help it would be most appreciated!

If you installed the font on the iMac, it should be available in Final Cut Pro and every other software. Have you quit and relaunched the application?

Back in Final Cut Pro 7, there were certain fonts that simply wouldn't work even if they work in other software like Microsoft Word or Adobe Photoshop. If I understand you correctly, you have the translated Penobscot text somewhere? Turn it into a non-text still image (TIFF, JPEG etc.) and import that into the editing project. Sometimes the simple act of pasting into Photoshop or TextEdit first will make the text viable in FCP.

i did try copying/pasting the text in text edit then copy/paste it into FCP. didn't work. i wonder if it has to do with the fonts available from the title file itself. i'm using a very basic text, but the penobscot language is not an option from the drop-down menu. would it be there?

i didn't restart FCP so maybe that's the issue.

and yes, figured that if i couldn't do the copy/paste thing, i would just import as image files.

open to any other input!

just got it to work!

i copy/pasted from text edit brought it into FCP and lo and behold, there was "penobscot" from the text drop-down menu.

nice that that was so easy!
