Handling multiple disks with FCPX

Handling drives with Apple’s Final Cut Pro X (called FCPX) is both easy and difficult. There is great software available to hide events and projects (i.e. Event manager X). But depending on how backups are made they may fail -- not in a sense of wrong functionality or bugs. It’s just the way backups can be created outside of FCPX. So “cloned” drives can create error messages within FCPX since some events and projects have the same ID which leads to a collision inside the internal database of FCPX.

So I made a little app to manage disks(volumes) to mount or unmount called diskHandler.
There are many utilities out there which handle mounting and unmounting of disks. But none of them is targeted towards FCPX workflows.

With diskHandler you can create your own “mounted disk set” for each job with some simple clicks.
This can be handy also when not working with Final Cut Pro X.

Launching the application it will first check all available disks for the current machine. All the disks will be listed -- except the startup disk , “Recovery HDs” and network attached drives.
Once everything is listed (could take a while depending on the amount of disks) you can select a bunch of them to mount or unmount. You also can save your "favorite disk setups" for use any time.

So if you want to try it yo can down load it from here:

And don't worry about destroying something. The app is a read only app (different from FCPX). The only thing it writes are the "smart user disk setup files" as a normal XML.

Would appreciate any feedback.
