FCPX on Parallels

I am interested in installing Final Cut Pro X onto a partition of my hard drive via Parallels. I do not want to update my whole system to Yosemite, but would like to run both systems simultaneously. Basically, Yosemite via Parallels strictly for FCP X (and the new Motion and Compressor) and Mavericks for everything else. Does anyone have any experience with that or have any input on it?

Parallels is for a bootable Windows installation. Do you need Windows or just a partition that runs Mavericks? That's easy enough to do. I have a small Mavericks partition that can run old versions of FCP.
