Processor: 2.5 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 16GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics: Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

I use it mainly with FCX. Any thoughts? I'm really torn after reading the reviews.

From mid 2014 may not be a big enough jump. I'm thinking on my Late 2013 as well.

Your needs and workflows are key though. Four Thunderbolt 3 ports is impressive. As someone who live streams that may be more important than any impact on FCPX.
Do you think you'll see advantages moving to TB3?
The Touch Bar will probably have greater value in the next couple of FCPX updates assuming you like its potential.

The touchbar is not customizable so is going to pretty much act like a keyboard shortcut.

You've probably read everything but certainly read this

Thanks for your thoughts on this.

We have the mid 2014 MacBook on a lease which is due to expire shortly. Do we keep the MacBook, or renew the lease and get the new MacBook? It sounds like it's not worth it at the moment. Is the Mid 2014 MacBook in any way upgradeable so we can get another year or two out of it? It's also still running El Capitan (10.11.6).
