MacPro 2008 had Radeon 2600 which is not compatible with FCPX. So MacPro preceding 2009 (2 years) ago is not compatible without getting a new GPU.

Meanwhile, my stock 15" MBP circa 2007 is happily running FCP X without a care in the world .. which is damn lucky cos I can't afford a new one

And while Apple lists the Radeon 1900 as not supported, many have reported they had no issue downloading FCPX on such systems.

It cost me $250 to move from 2600 to 5770, much less expensive than buying a new computer. Ironically Apple doesn't support the 5770 on MacPro preceding mid 2010.

Take the FCP X interface, the new design.

Now imagine it on a iPad.....OOOooooooH ! Now i understand !

It's coming sooner than you think guys. It was clearly designed for it.

So how do you get the media onto your iPad then?

My software:
Pro Maintenance Tools - Tools to keep Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro running smoothly and fix problems when they arise
Pro Media Tools - Edit QuickTime chapters and metadata, detect gamma shifts, edit markers, watch renders and more
More tools...

It actually runs fine on the ATI 2600. Had to copy it from my macbook pro to the Mac Pro for it to work as the app store won't let you download, but the app runs fine, albeit previews are not as smooth as on the newer machine.

iCloud or a more sophisticated version of the "Camera Connection" device or download from the internet through Safari... all this assumes a good portion of the users are consumer oriented.

Or bring it into iTunes and sync it I suppose.

It also would be fun to work on an 24" iPad with Thunderbolt attached to a 10 TB RAID

Some workflow tools for FCP [www.spherico.com]
TitleExchange -- juggle titles within FCS, FCPX and many other apps.

I would suspect iTunes or maybe some sort of a reverse connect to camera type of deal where you can simply "Send to iPad" or "Export to iPad" when it's connected.

Your making joke but face it, FCP will die as you know it in a couple of months. The way Apple manage the crisis tells a lot. Steve Jobs wanna sell devices. Better start learn premiere soon.

Currently, one easy way is to do the encoding in QT X. Then you can drag the qt into iTunes. I don't think iTunes does video compression.
