422 or 422 LT? (is LT available in Compressor 4?)

422 or 422 LT? (is LT available in Compressor 4?)

Hello.

Does Compressor 4 still include ProRes 422 LT?
I would like to use this for editing (422 is a bit too big for me, since i'm coming from Canon H.264 files)

My old workflow was: Copy to Hard Drive from SD card / Transcode to 422 (no audio - since i never use the onboard Camera Audio) via Compressor droplet / import into FCP 6 and edit.

I'd like to keep this workflow, but replace the 422 with 422 LT.

FCPX transcodes to 422 'regular' when creating 'Optimized' media, right?
There's no option to have it do 422 LT?
So i could / would have to use the new compressor for this?

No, Compressor 4 does not include ProRes 422 LT. But if you have the previous version, you can drag ProRes 422 LT out onto your desktop, then drag into the Custom's folder in Compressor 4.

Dang.. really??
I have FCP 6, so no LT for me..

Since the LT / misc new flavors of ProRes were the only features in FCP7 that caught my eye, i didn't feel it was worth the upgrade.
Figured I'd wait 'till the next one.
And now, it's gone???
(dooh)

How weird.
Is this simply a 'setting' in Compressor.. with a lower data rate?
If so, is the actual Droplet or Preset something that's 'email-able'??

BTW - I noticed all the demo footage on the MBP's at the Apple store is ProRes 422 (LT) - hence the 'snappy' performance, even if using the internal drives.

As far as I'm aware, LT is still shipped with the Pro Apps codecs. To create your own preset, click the + button under Settings and select QuickTime Movie. Click Settings next to Video and select ProRes 422 (LT) from the list.

My software:
Pro Maintenance Tools - Tools to keep Final Cut Studio, Final Cut Pro X, Avid Media Composer and Adobe Premiere Pro running smoothly and fix problems when they arise
Pro Media Tools - Edit QuickTime chapters and metadata, detect gamma shifts, edit markers, watch renders and more
More tools...

Ok, now that sounds a lot more realistic..
