Jump Cuts in Time Lapse

Jump Cuts in Time Lapse

I have shot a time lapse of a painting. No b-roll to transition to as I only have one camera.

The problem is that there are about a dozen restarts and most of them jump cut. The easel was fixed to the ground and the tripod always in the same place, but the photos varied based on light and minor adjustments resulting in jump cuts.

What is the best solution?

I left some margin to crop, but how would you go about best stitching it? Keyframe then stack it with a little transparency?

I'm a novice who hasn't tried to edit anything since 1998. FCPX seem illogical to me, it is driving me mad! :-)

Transform, overlaying, and then matching to previous clip at 50% opacity works wonders. I spent last 8 hours on this one.

I think zooming out, shooting at double the resolution of 1080p is best way, then cropping it. I wasted all effort on trying to get it inch perfect for every shot.

FCPX seems way more counterintuitive than it needs to be though.

Still open to other suggestions of how others would deal with this situation!
