Seven free blur and sharpen effects - including Unsharp Mask and a lens blur

Apple provided many effects with Final Cut Pro, but not as many as they could have done. There are many more supplied with Motion 5, some of which are useful for editors as well as motion graphics designers.

Defocus
A lens blur with settings that give control over bokeh highlights.

It simulates what a clip looks like when a physical lens goes out of focus:


More realistic than the mathematics-based Gaussian blur:


Unsharp Mask
More control over how FCP sharpens a clip:


Channel Blur
Blur one or more of the red, green, blue or alpha channels


Compound Blur
Selectively blur based on the colour values of another clip



Circle Blur
Defines a circular area over which to apply a blur


Gradient Blur
Define two points that apply a blur over part of a clip


Soft Focus
Good for that 'stocking over the lens' foggy effect
