FCP X Multicam audio- driving me crazy- can anyone help?

Simplest description I can come up with:

Created multicam clip with several audio sources too.
I "breakout/open up/open in timeline/angle editor" the audio tracks and make changes. ( turn off tracks/ volume changes etc)

I go back to my multicam blue track ( where you make cuts) and I hear completely different audio mix - or for instance right now- no audio.

I assume I'm doing something dumb ( I'm new to FCP x - vet FCP 7)

Anyone willing to take a phone call/ screen share to help me sort this out?
