Arabic Subtitles - anybody tried that?

We tried on some machines but got a lot of crashes or ignoring of titles.

With the below text FCPX crashes immediately when pasting the text (using XML it will be ignored) as many other text

A link as the forum does not support arabic as well

Would be great to get some feedback on that -- crash or no crash.

I havent tried this personally but a colleague did.

It was a nightmare.

If I remember correctly problems included :

Letters and spaces get jumbled up.

It doesn´t seem to be so clear where the words start/end!

Ditto where the spaces start and end!

Then of course the whole thing gets pasted in backwards....

and Viola you get a crash.

I know this is not the answer that you are looking for but we ended up turning text into photos for our films!

Paul's suggestion is not a joke. Foreign-language text often carries "junk" in the code that bog you down. Obviously in this case re-typing the text isn't easy, but it may be the only solution. Or rasterizing the text into an image file, at least just for those few lines.

I just wanted to make sure it doesn't happen only here.

I don't think there is "junk" in there as it works fine with other apps (in FCP 7 as well) [www.spherico.com]
I will update my psTitle to work with FCPX to create "rasterized" layered TIFFs.
