Optimize Media Question

When you select the optimize media option and X has finished the background transcoding. Is the clip in the viewer now the "optimized clip" or do you need to import the "high Qulaity" file from the project folder where it stores the optimized media? I saw a youtube video where they navigated to find the optimized clip before doing their effects and it made me question this. Any thoughts?

If an optimized clip is available the application automatically uses that. You do not have to import it.
