Anyone have any experience with Promise Technology products?

I'm reviewing the Pegasus RAID storage unit with Thunderbolt for my new iMac.

Thanks for any information.

I have been using an R4 for over a year. Never any issues except what I think was a Thunderbolt disconnect twice during that time. I get read/write speeds in excess of 400 MB/sec.
I have essentially the same model iMac you have.

I've heard about issues with Thunderbolt and having a handphone too near the drive. Here's a reference:

I had heard about that but I haven't seen it happen. I cannot even verify that what happened to me was definitely a Thunderbolt issue because it only happened twice in over a year. Otherwise no problems.

I purchased an R4 8TB unit along with a 27" imac and Retina MBP in December/January. The unit was a simple plug & play and has been stellar at keeping up with live capture of 1080i prores files through our BlackMagic Ultra Studio 3D SDI capture, until Monday when I noticed Drive 1 had failed. A quick ... well ok it was an hour... call to Promise Tech Support and a replacement drive was on the way (standard shipping is 2 day ground... paid extra for overnight).

I was able to keep working off of the unit and all of my files played fine. Installed the replacement drive last night and let the unit rebuild itself. Took about 4 hours... and all is well. So far I'm pretty happy with the unit and Promise overall.

I use the R4 along with 2 Drobo FS and 1 DroboPro 16TB units and had more issues with the drobos out of the box.
