Panasonic say 60fps, FCP says 59.94fps. Who's right?

Hi,

I just got a Panasonic HC-X900 camera which records 1080/60p AVCHD video. Or so I thought. When I import clips into FCP X (10.0.7) and let it choose the settings based on the clip, it chooses 59.94fps instead of 60fps as the project's frame rate. Is that right? I edited everything at 59.94fps, and it plays back just fine, but I think I broke YouTube when I tried to upload it (12+ hours and still processing 12 min/1.7 GB clip.) YouTube warned me about not having the optimal encoding settings, but they didn't say what was wrong (and I didn't see a lot of options to choose the settings they recommend here.

So basically,

Is my 1080/60p camera 60fps or 59.94fps and would the wrong fps setting in FCP cause it to take forever to process on YouTube? I did try File -> Share -> YouTube directly from FCP, but that doesn't seem to be working any faster.

60p almost always means 59.94 just like 30 almost always means 29.97. While it is possible with some cameras to record 60.00 and 30.00 it's rare that someone would want to as the 59.94 and 29.97 are standard frame rates for recording in 60Hz countries.

Thanks, I ended up going with a 59.94fps project. To get it on YouTube I ended up using custom Compressor settings based on this advice from Google and this article from StreamingMedia.com. The default YouTube settings in Compressor don't really match YouTube's recommendations very well.
