Workflow for syncing R3ds in FCP x

HI,

I've never used final cut X but am considering it for an upcoming gig.

I want to be able to batch sync R3D footage without transcoding then XML to premiere or FCP7.

Is this possible? What are the steps to do in FCPx?

I heard you need to muliticlip it otherwise they lose TC?

Thanks

Why not just sync in Premiere and cut native? Here's a tutorial from Strypes : Audio Sync using Multicam in Premiere Pro

It seems redundant to go through one program to make an XML for another program which can do the same thing. Also, Premiere can handle the R3D files without transcoding, while FCP7 can't.

Unless you're maybe taking this opportunity to learn FCPX. smiling smiley

FCPX with a reasonable GPU handles RED natively as well.

Just throw the .R3D files directly into FCPX.

To make sure you get smooth playback (unless you have a RED Rocket card), change "Choose Viewer Display Options" (the little switch top right of the viewer) to "better performance".

You might need to install the RED drivers and codecs - check for an update anyway if you haven't for a while:
