Red Flag - "Missing Proxy"

Just purchased Final Cut Pro X a few weeks ago. I am new at video editing. After several successful edits from video camera and MP4 files, while I am working on a new project, suddenly all events and projects lose videos, and red square with "Missing Proxy" appears instead of video in its place. No videos are in any projects. Completely deleated everything, and imported new files, but problem still exists. Re downloaded program from App Store, but same problem still exists. This is on new 27" iMac. Same program works fine on laptop with same video files.

Try deleting the preferences - I've had some really bizarre bugs recently!

First quit FCPX and then save ~/Library/Preferences/Com.apple.FinalCut.plist and ~/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro (Whole folder) to your Desktop.

Then delete both the plist and the folder from their original locations and see if that resolves this issue.

If that doesn't work, look for a file similar to:

/Library/Preferences/ByHost/
com.apple.FinalCut.5609C035-FAD0-53FA-B6DB-3FE3AEF39313.plist

Move that to your desktop and relaunch FCPX.
