usb-c to firewire 800

Upgraded to a new 2018 MacBook pro/FCP 10.4......coming from a 2010 MacBook Pro/FCP 7........have lots of final cut pro projects/media stored on firewire connected external hard drives. Can't seem to be able to find an adapter that goes from the USB-C port on the MacBook pro to firewire 800. The only thing I've seen is a $299 super expensive OWC Thunderbolt 3 Dock. There has to be a cheaper way? Suggestions?

hook them together, and connect the FW800 cable, and you should be good to go. This is how I'm using a 2017 iMac with a FW400 device (I also use a FW800 to FW400 cable to connect from the adapter to the device).

The adapters are usually available for a good bit less on eBay.
