FCPX 10.4.4 keeps crashing

Hi Guys,

Am back after a long time. I stuck to FCP 7 as long as I could - then Apple made it impossible cos support
from High Sierra disappeared. After resisting FCPX for so many years, I finally purchased it - and am still in the
process of learning but it's scary cvos the damn thing keeps hanging/freezing with such regularity that I don't
want to even touch it. So, please help. I know this must be somewhere in your faqs but I couldn't find it.

I'm using an IMac - 3.3 Ghz with 24 GB (4+4+8+8) Ram 1600 Mhz DDR and graphics AMD Radeon R9 M290 2048 MB ...
I have more than 600 GB of my i TB free and have my data files on a separate hard drive ....

sometimes the thing freezes when I'm playing a clip in Event and sometime in Project. There seems to be
no logic to it.

I need to start reworking and this is proving to be a major disincentive. Please help ...
