Connecting a PDW-330 to Windows 7 Abode Premiere Pro 4 via FirewirePosted by mark@avolution
As a preamble, may I say I have no problems connecting and ingesting
from the PDW-F330 with the Mac, FCP system we have. -The camera menu is set to FAM. However, when I bring the camera over to the Vista machine (64 bit, 8 G Ram) and connect the camera via the firewire connection- there is no evidence of any connection whatsoever. -Windows does not try to install new devices -nothing shows up in My Computer -Adobe Premiere Pro 4 (PP4) does not see any connections in its browser. As a scientific control, I know that the F330 connects to the Mac, but does not connect to the Windows PP4 machine - hopefully ruling out the camera. I am scratching my head, as I have installed all the Sony browsers for Windows- and the result is all the same-no connection on the Windows system. I have read, and re-read all the docs for the camera on the Sony site in regards to XDCAM workflow in PP4, and read all the docs on Adobe, and yet I can not get it to connect. Maybe I am missing something here guys and girls, if you can throw me a line here, it would be great. Mark Pigott
You probably won't get a great deal of help on this forum because most of the people here are Mac guys.

Is this helpful?
"if your OS is 64bit, you won't be able to install the FAM driver" "There isn't a Prodisc driver for 64 bit. You can install all the software, but you won't be able to see your camera as a removable storage media. You can import on a non 64 bit and move the files over a network as you mentioned. I had to do the same thing when Vista first came out as there was no driver for it at the time. I used my XP laptop attached directly via ethernet to the Vista machine and attached camera to the laptop firewire port." It's from these guys : [www.dvinfo.net]
That is the case! But imagine how shocked I was to find this out!
No 64 bit support for Vista (that should be a mantra and I should repeat over and over) Thanks for your help Jude Cotter Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is this helpful? > > "if your OS is 64bit, you won't be able to install > the FAM driver" > > "There isn't a Prodisc driver for 64 bit.
