source media - 720p30 avchd (mts files)

the projects 1st SEQ was set to dv ntsc.
I created a new SEQ as AVCHD 720p30.

I normally go out via Adobe Media encoder but decided to use the basic export media. I clicked match SEQ and get mpeg.

Is avchd / mts a child of mpeg like h264 is a child of mp4?

Raw AVCHD files are MP4's so if you exported the same as the Sequence, then yes, you'll end up with an MP4.

Most of the codecs shot natively in digital cameras are a derivative of H264 / MPEG in some fashion. If you're used to the FCP Log and Transfer tool, you never knew this because the formats were converted prior to edit.

Same as source does same container format as source? I wonder what happens to R3D files.

I don't know, we have not worked with any RED projects. Had a few come through for color grading, but that was about it.

Thanks. I needed to verify that.
