Paste attributes not working on custom sequence

Working with a custom sequence to make use of Pro Res preview files in CS6. However, copying and pasting attributes
does not work via cmd C/X in the timeline.

In order for it to work I have to go into the effect controls panel of clip A and copy/paste in the effect controls panel of Clip B.

Is this just how it is when working in custom sequences or is there a way to make paste attributes work in the timeline with a custom sequence?

That's CS6 so my memory of that can be a bit hazy. I think you can copy and paste attributes just that the dialog box doesn't show up.
