Sequence settings bug confirmed

Apple has confirmed issue when opening sequence settings in 10.3 (panther) will cause FCP to unexpectedly quit. Cure they say is to upgrade to 4.0.2

I'm still in Jaguar, but I'm curious to know if anybody is epxeriencing FCP "amnesia" regarding recent projects and window settings? Like when you boot up and expect your most recently saved project to appear first-- and instead you get something you saved a while ago and no matter how often you try to update the save it always boots into the old project? And recent projects aren't listing in the File>"Open recent" dropdown menu?
