Log and capture issue

I scanned most of the previous posts and didn't see the problem I'm having, so please forgive me if I'm bringing up an old issue.

I was doing a batch capture of about 18 fairly small clips. At the end of the capture, FCP4 froze - I had to force quit, and of course, lost my clips.

Here is where the mystery begins....

After re-starting FCP4 and attempting to input my project again, the device control status read "not communicating."

I followed all the recommended procedures, checked all connections and settings. Nothing had been changed, nothing is unconnected, everything is normal. But, device control status STILL reads "not communicating."

Any ideas?
Well its not a bug. Its a problem.

Quit FCP and shut down your Mac and wait a few minutes. Turn off your Deck. Turn on your deck and set to VTR mode and then turn on your Mac. Launch FCP. See if that works.
