render: file in use error

G5 dual 2gig & G4 dual 1.25, fcp 4.1.1, OSX 10.3.2

i've been getting the following error when rendering in the timeline:

"File Error: The specified file is open and in use by this or another application"

Huh? It stops the rendering, and i have to try to re-render again, sometimes w/ out success for a few tries before it goes again, then gives me the same error. frustrating.

any ideas?

Please post the question to the CAFE LA forum, as The Bug Report is not a support forum but a place to report bugs in FCP.

If you're able to repeat your "File is open" problem on other FCP systems, with different projects and media files, then it is probably a bug in FCP and you're most welcome to report it here along with a detailed description of what to do to invoke the bug.

If you are using Norton Anti-Virus or another Norton utility, then you will likely get this bug. Running FCP on a system with Norton installed is not supported.
