"Print to Video"_Email Alert can be Recorded on Tape

I had my email sound turned on so that there was a chime when I received a new message. Bad idea. I received a message while using the Print to Video application in FCP. The chime was recorded as well. I tried to set the System Preferences so that the chime could be heard but would not go to tape. That failed, so I turned off all sounds.
