Copied or dragged Fades alter duration

Copied or dragged Fades alter duration.

This has been around for a long time.

apply a transition to a cut.
Stretch the transition to alter its duration.
Drag transition to another cut. Result is as expected.
Now select the transition, and change to another type by selecting from menu, or draging from effects browser.
The new transition adopts the duration of the old, which is the right thing to do.
But now drag that transition to another cut, and it reverts to the default duration. 1 second.

ACTUAL RESULT: Dragged or copy/pasted transtions will revert to a default lenght if the transition has been up-dated.
DESIRED RESULT: Draged or copy/pasted transition wil maintian their edito-defined durations (where handles permit)

Yup. Happens for me in FCP 4.0.1 just like it says. Always has bugged me, too.
