abort capture on dropped frames

G4 400 MHz, 1gig ram, multiple drives, FCP 4.5

I have "abort capture on dropped frames" checked in Pref with Make New clip selected but when I capture the "CLIP" eg 0:00:05:00 to 1:02:00:00 and a drop frame is detected it does not keep the captured material, nor does it continue to capture with new clips.

regards

I am looking in to this probelm too, but I would bet the issue is that your clip is too long. I have been told by several sources that FCP likes clips of about 10 minutes or less. Whether this is 100% accurate or not is immaterial. If you capture a 1 hour clip and FCP aborts you at the end of the clip you have wasted an hour. I have also been advised to never deselect "abort at dropped frames" since this will do you in if you ever have to online or go to another system.

I had to make successively shorter clips and then eventually just go to another deck. Sometimes it is a deck issue or FCP's interaction

Hope this helps.
