this came up in a thread at Cafe LA
[

the poster jim babcock made a series of subclips, then used MM to bust them up into individual files.
didnt work.
anytime there were adjascent frames, like sub one finishes at 10.00, sub 2 starts at 10.01, then MM combines them into a single file.
i confirmed the behaviour
try this:
blade a clip into 5 sections, and re-name them
select the first 2 and the last 2,
Media Manage.
you get 2 files
the first contains the first 2 subs, the second contains the last 2.
i did this, and noticed the first file has ONE EXTRA FRAME on the end of it!
(the second one doesnt as there was no more media at the end of the clip)
i then MM'ed a single clip, and it too had ONE EXTRA FRAME on the end.
this is probabl'y what's confusing MM.
it's normal behaviour is to join clips into single files if they SHARE frames.
the extra frame means it IS sharing frames, even if that's not what you want.
here's some specs:
800MhzPowerbook 768MbRAM
FCP5 QT 7.01
DV PAL 25fps media
