Sync issues

I am having troubles keeping audio and video in sync on my mastered DVD?s. Video seems to be lagging a few frames. I?ve seen it happen elsewhere on commercial DVD?s too?

Is this a player problem (too slow buffers etc) or does this have something to do with DVD studio Pro settings. Tried on three different players, all have the same problem.

Can I fix the problem by cutting a few frames from the audio and (forcing) the sync manually? Sound like a bad idea to me ?

Done correctly - This should NEVER happen! Most likely you are encoding the MPEG content at too high a bit rate to be played back in time (sync).

Set top DVD players are decoding the video and audio frames in real time and if the data rate is too high for that hardware it will skip frames and cause sync problems -or worse!
