DVDs wont play in player

I'm using my usual work flow:
export out of FCP through Compressor into DVD preset audio & video files, bring those into DVDSP and build a DVD. It's done me good for a long time.
The only difference tonight is in the spirit of experimentation I brought QT movies into DVDSP and initiated the encode in DVDSP instead of Compressor. I didn't get the desired results so I returned everything (or so I think) to factory presets and started over using my usual workflow via Compressor.
Now after running through my tried and true workflow my burned DVDs wont play in my consumer DVD player ( final test before delivery) but they do play in my mac DVD player. What the F***?

What type and bit-rate of the encode process did you use? CBR or VBR encode?

Usually if it will play on a computer and not in a DVD Player, it means the encode bit-rate was too high. Usually means a larger file size as well.
