Play from one marker to the next and exit

Play from one marker to the next and exit

The Index menus are all set up. Each button takes me to a Chapter Marker in my track. My markers are spaced in black intervals half a second before each next clip. The problem is, Play continues past ecah Chapter to the next. That is a no-no.

Second issue, pressing Stop-- leaves me at black screen. This has been covered here before, but I want to ask about both issues--

Special Script?

Story?

Which do pro's recommend?

While I'm not a pro, I'd suggest a story. It's very easy.

Thanks, James. I'm trying Stories, one entry per. (This is a menu screen for a reading program. 16 word-buttons per screen.)

The first end jump works fine., The rest fail. Why?

I'm end-jumping back to the originating submenu in ecah Story. All but the first fail to jump.

1) I am not end-jumping the Chapter Markers- Not Set.

2) I am not end-jumping the STORY Markers -- Not Set.

3) I AM end-jumping the STORY itself, in the Inspector, and checking it in the Connections tab.

As I say, success on first button, and continuous play on all others.

WTF??? 'Tis a knotty one.

Oh, my God, I figured it out-- missed yet another basic setting-- right up front on the sub-menu, targeting a button to a Story-- not a Chapter Marker. I did it for the first button, neglected all the following, which play track sections, not Story sections. My Stories all have an End Jump back to [menu]. My Chapter Markers do not.

I think I'd rather be a diamond cutter.

Target a button to an element with an exit strategy.
I call it the Iraq Conditional.

Story jumps- 70 of them- worked very well.

For the second draft of this disc, I thought I'd try the Chapter Marker End Jump. This field comes up when you go to your track and select a Marker. Whoopee! Why build a Story for each entry? Here's a Marker End Jump!

All went well in Simulation but in the build, I get

"Too many combined chapters and end actions in movie"-- whoa.

I have 70 Chapters in the reading program. Apparently End Jumps count against the 99 Chapter limit per track?? That is lame. Not only that a jump should count for anything in a track, but that I have to go through all 70 and return them to "Not Set." Where's that postal job...

Back to one Story per chapter! Seems to be the best solution.

Comments welcome.
