First 16 x 9 project - HELP!

Good ladies and gentlemen of this forum, I crave your indulgence to save my sanity!

I'm trying to create a 16x9 DVD, but I'm obviously missing a simple step somewhere.

If I export from FCP in Quicktime or MPEG 2, the file plays okay (wide) on the desktop.

I then import to DVDSP; if I double click on the file in the 'asset' window it, again, plays in the correct aspect ratio.

When, however, I drag the file to a track, it becomes 4x3 every time. If I burn a DVD, it also plays 4x3.

I've got the encoding bit of preferences set to 16x9; is there another setting I've missed? I've set and reset everything so many times that if I were... (no, sorry. Better not do the red setter joke).

Incidentally, I don't think my FCP exporting is faulty; I made a short test DVD by dragging a file directly to Toast. It worked fine.

Most grateful for any hints, tips, used banknotes, etc.

Cheers,

Ol.

Solved - ish!

It seems (from minimal research) that when you drag material to a track, the track properties get reset.

I'd been telling the track to be 16x9, then dragging a file to it.

Doing file drag first, then switching to wide screen solved it.

I think.

Cheers all,

Ol.
