default dvd write speed

Hi, folks,

Is there a way to set the default write speed on a Mac (G4 or MacPro, OSX 10.4.8)? Specifically I'm looking to burn a ton of DVDs from the disc utility app using disc images, and want to specify the write speed ahead of time (8X for 16X-rated discs) so that it's mostly an automated job.

thanks,

HarryD

Roxio Toast is your best bet for determining write speed for burns. DVD Studio will not let you burn at 1x which is mostly required before sending a DVD-5 or DVD-9 to replication.

Toast is really indespensible for DVD authoring chores.

Thanks for the reply.

What I was hoping to do was to set the default speed at a system level and duplicate image files. The discs are done, just need mucho copies.

For the relatively small number that i need (30 sets), a dupe house would not be manufacturing them as replications anyway - just dupes. they already told me that.

thanks,

Then why not just save money and invest in Toast and burn them yourself?

that's what i'm doing, just wanted to save the step of resetting the speed for each disc. it's now 40 sets of a 5-disk set - 200 burns total.

thanks.
