Web access problem

Web access problem

This is my first DVDSP project (DVDSP4 as part of studio 1) and I am trying to get it to link and go to a web page. I have followed the instructions on the tutorial, and it works fine in simulation. After burning a test disk, the menus and the video on the disk work fine, but when I hit the menu button to go to the web it just sits there. The "return to main menu" button works fine, it just doesn't open the web access as it does in simulation. Is there something else I need to do or adjust? I tried it in the machine that created the disk (it has web access).

I just discovered the answer. I was browsing kenstone.net and found a tutorial on enabling DVD@ccess and found out that the dvd@ccess has to be turned on in the dvd player prefs. The apple tutorial lead me to believe that this function was a permanently working feature, not something accessible through the prefs.

Yep and this also means that the Mac users who view the disc have to manually turn the Pref on... will they!?!?

To be honest unless you're using dvd(no)@ccess in a controlled environment I would highly suggest that you never use it or offer this kinda interactivity. It's fraught with problems even if you have spidey sense, magical powder a sprinkle of luck and a ironman suit. Cause then you have to try to get it to work on over on Windows.

It really is often better to have a Menu telling the User there is ROM Content and how to get at it...

Is there any set way to make sure this will work on windows?

Hi Paul,

In a controlled environment, maybe... but other than that nope.

You're asking a lot from the user to install new software, restart, hope any pray, use a Software Player that works with dvd@ccess etc. they could of just dragged the pdf from the disc to the HDD or opened it off of the disc by the time they've done all that!

Even assuming Mac users will go and change their DVD Player Prefs is a lot to ask before you get to Windows IMHO... look what you went through and you're the DVD Author,
Sorry, you do not have permission to post/reply in this forum.
