HELP! 16:9 AND 4:3 Videos on SAME DVD
February 23, 2009 05:12PM
Hello all,
I have looked all over and can't find the answer I am looking for.

Here is my dilemma:

I have to put 16:9 AND 4:3 videos together on the same disc. I can't find anything on how to do this.

I am going to use DVDSP 4 and I know you have the option to choose 16:9 or 4:3 when you begin your project...BUT what do you do if you have both formats?

I am not trying to play the 'same' videos in 16:9 and 4:3. I have found suggestions on this but all the videos on the disc are different videos and some are 16:9 and some are 4:3. I found a couple topics online that explained how to get the 'same' videos to play in 16:9 or 4:3.... definitely not what I am trying to do.

Simply put... How can I put 16:9 and 4:3 videos on a single layer DVD so I don't have to create 2 discs, one for 16:9 and one for 4:3?

Thank you.

Hey Mike,

You don't do anything really... you just author as normal. You can use 4:3 & 16:9 on with no probs. If you've encoded the files as 4:3 & 16:9 then they may auto show up correctly in dvdsp when you add them to the project.

The only thing you need to think about is that if most of your footage is 16:9 you may want your menus to be 16:9. Of course if most is 4:3 then go with 4:3 menus! Unless there is an obvious 'main show'. ie. a feature film in 16:9 and all extras in 4:3 you may want to go with 16:9 menus,

What happens when 16x9 menus are shown on a 4x3 TV?
Sorry, you do not have permission to post/reply in this forum.
