Noooo. If your target is a DVD, then it's SD, period. The only current HD-format disc is the Blu-Ray -- or BD. There's no such thing as an "HD DVD" anymore.

Just a guess, what what is the X speed of the DVD's that you have burned.

The reason for asking is that a lot of folks still have older dvd players, and
they may not play the higher speed DVD's.

I only burn to 4x dvd's. I had problems two years ago and that was the problem.

I get mine from the internet, and buy 200 at a pop.

Folks who have old players can call the the company Tech support folks
and they can send folks a dvd with the software that will make the drive
read faster disks.

It's just an idea.

There are a number of ways to get that. If you can't remember who made your blanks or how much they cost, let's start there. We found out very early on that at least in our shop, Sony DVD-R is very good to us. Each poster has their own favorite brand of disk.

We used to use Maxcell exclusively, and then Maxcell started making their own instead of rebranding RiTec. Boom, failures right and left. Exit Maxcell.

What fails? Do you get an error message "NO DISK," or does it play funny?

I think it's still true that you can't quality encode over 7, because if you do, all the older DVD players go toes up. I don't know how that relates to the modern Studio Pro.

The players that failed are now your Quality Control machines. Do Not throw them out. Disks don't leave the house until they play on those machines.

Go to preferences "DVD standard", select "SD DVD".

But before that, from FCP, you need to export a Quicktime movie, set to current settings, then encode in Compressor with a DVD preset. Then pop that into DVDSP.
