Can DVD Studio Pro Author to Blue Ray?

Can I use DVD Studio Prod to author to Blue Ray if I put a Blue Ray drive in the second DVD slot on my MacPro Tower?

The output from Compressor can be used in other authoring apps... not just DVDSP.

Whilst DVDSP can't author BD at the moment, there's no telling what changes Apple may be able to introduce. I wouldn't hold your breath while you wait, mind you... :-)

One of the workflows to get a Blu Ray disc, is to encode a Blu Ray compatible stream in Compressor and author that in a Blu Ray authoring software (eg. Encore or Toast).

The share feature in FCP 7 allows you to author a Blu Ray disc.

Compressor can author/burn basic (almost iDVD like) Blu-ray video discs.

Any recommendations for external blu-ray burner? FireWire 800, I assume? Toast and a pile of 1080 files?

Basic disk is good. We like basic disks.

You know it's coming when this Blu-Ray thing gets down as far as us.

I just got an OWC burner (Pioneer 205 12x mechanism) which as about one of everything as an interfaces from USB to Firewire to eSATA. I've only done a bit of data backup with it so far though.
