Blurring, strobbing video.Posted by limakid
Hello,
Finallly I finished a DVD in DVD Studio Pro of 2 hours and 12 minutes. I used mostly the setting of 150 minutes, MPEG-2, 3.7 Mbps. Previous Workflow: 1. Shooting in HDV-standard with a Canon HDV Vixia HV30 at the best quality, but I know now that the tape register only 1440x1080 and at 60i. NOTE: I shooted in HDV-satndard (16:9). Even though I see 2 more options of cine mode: HDV-24 and HDV-30. I just selected the HDV-standard. I guess that this makes me record at 30fps too? 2. The projects in FCP was set: Frame size: 1440 x 1080 Aspect ratio: HD (1440x1080) (16:9) Pixel aspect ratio: HD (1440x1080) Filed dominance: Upper (Odd) I don't know for what is this... QuickTime video settings: Compressor HDV 1080i60 at 100% quality. 3. Applied filters, transitions, effects... 4. Every sequence was exported to MOV. I didn't export straight to MPEG-2 because it was taking a long long desperating time, even when the sequences were already rendered. 5. Every MOV file was compressed to MPEG-2 at 3.7Mbps.... etc. in Compressor in order to create the tracks for the DVD. 6. Creation, Authoring and Burning DVD. 7. Result: Video looks like blurring and strobbing not too much but a little annoying for my eyes... With other pre-recorded videos, this does not happen. How could I improve the quality of displaying the video. Is this a display problem? Should I do something with the Apple display? Is this a result of bad settings? Should I improve my shooting skills? Is it true that at 24fps will I decrease that blurr/strobb "effect"? 8. Any recommendations: I use to shoot scenes with movements: people walking... I love to shoot close shots of faces in movement. I like to move the camera to til down and up, left to right and all that... Suggestions please. Thx a lot.
Are you watching the DVD on a computer screen or a Broadcast Monitor?

was looking up visible difference between compressing 5mpbs vs 3.7mpbs and ran across this thread...
Was wondering if you found an answer to your question. I noticed you recorded in 60i...but didn't notice if you deinterlaced... I'm brand spanking new on here and it was just a thought... Karen Sorry, you do not have permission to post/reply in this forum.
