G5 or g4 intel?

Hi people,
Anyone think its foolish to go ahead and buy a dual 2.3GB G5 tower rather than go for an intel mac book? I'll be using FCP and motion.

Any thoughts on the this?

Do you mean a MacBook Pro? Because the pro apps will barely run on a MacBook. They run quite well on the MacBook Pro, but Motion in particular can run much better on a G5 if you put in the right graphics card.

As I understand it, both those machines are very close in Horsepower and the ATI X1600 Mobility Radeon card is pretty good for Motion. The MacBook Pro is not as expandable but if a laptop is needed, you will need external drives and possibly an external monitor to truly edit from.
