There must be a way, but........

I have searched forum, and user manual, but this is possibly not possible? Have dropped one filter on clip (line screen), and want to dissolve the filter on....."basic motion fade" fades up from black.....playing with opacity does the same....can this only be done with filters that have a property that "turns the filter off" and using keyframes? Sorry if this is a bozo question everyone.

Thanks

Usually you'd keyframe some parameter of the filter to ramp it up, but if you can't, just duplicate the underlying clip and take the filter off the upper clip, then fade out the upper clip, revealing the same lower clip below it with the filter.

thanks, Mark......I was afraid there was a checkbox or some parameter that I was overlooking....it's too bad that for a robust app like Motion, one has to find a work around for such a simple action.

There is a fade behavior that you can drag and drop onto a layer to cause that action. Very simple!
