FireWire video out does not work after installing Motion

Wow, there are a lot of issues surfacing regarding Motion. Here's one many may find useful:

"FireWire video out does not work after installing Motion

"If you have earlier versions of Final Cut Pro 4 installed, FireWire video out does not work after installing Motion. If you switch to the Finder then back to Final Cut Pro, you'll see a "general error" alert message.

"This happens with Final Cut Pro versions 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, and 4.1.1

"To resolve the issue, upgrade to Final Cut Pro HD (4.5). The update is available from the Final Cut Pro download page. You will need to enter your Final Cut Pro 4 serial number. "
